If you haven’t read/worked through Days 1-5, go back and start from the beginning. This is a journey and each step builds on the next. Today we are still looking at: How do I become a disciple? So, far we have talked about repentance, consequences, and being saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (we will talk a lot more about this in days to come.)
(1) Pray as a family. Pray for our world, our leaders, our churches, our neighbors, and each other. Pray for healing of all those who are sick. Spend time repenting and asking for forgiveness and for Jesus to show each of you how to live out the “fruits of the Spirit,” in this season of “sheltering in place.”
(2) Read Ephesians 2 together (this is a good time to talk about who wrote Ephesians, when, why, to whom and what was going on in history at that time—look it up! Research it as a team/family.) Read it verse by verse and talk about what each verse is saying. Define words your kids may not know. It’s ok if they “don’t get it all!” How will they ever learn if you don’t start somewhere?
(3) Share how you trust in the death of Jesus to save you, and what you are being saved from AND for. Share when you have struggled with believing you needed to do something to save yourself. Use examples and words they understand but never “dumb” down the Truth! Jesus never held back with His disciples, not that you are Jesus, but He will guide you through this in His strength not yours! Rennet He does the saving we are just told to “Go and make disciples...” (Matthew 28:19)
If you are confused about how to talk to your kids about this or need someone praying for you email me at equippingtomorrow@icloud.com and I’ll be here to walk with you through this unique opportunity we have been given!
