All the Marbles Day 41

My heart breaks for all that is happening in America today. Events have taken place that reminds us so sharply of our fallen nature. Our love of self is so much greater than our love for the self beside us.

We can make bold stands and changes to impact the future, BUT where we need to start is at home. As we disciple our children, we need to discuss how God created mankind in His image and that God called us “very good.” We need to talk about the value of life, from conception to grave.

When we lose perspective and think only of ourselves, it leads us to think little of others. Teach your child that we are all unique, all different, all image barriers of our Creator. Jesus has called us to love others well, and He did not include any descriptors!

Be an example. Teach your children to ask questions and listen to people who don’t look like them, or talk like them, or come from a different country or town. We all have a story. Teach them how to walk in other shoes as you teach them to be a follower of Jesus.

Just imagine the world change that would happen if each parent, grandparent, disciple-maker poured into their children. The pyramid effect would be staggering. You don’t need to take on the whole world; you need to disciple well those who God has given you.

If you are interested in a simple “journey guide” to use in discipling your children, sign up for “All the Marbles” daily email at the top of this blog post, and it will come straight to your inbox. Discipling is a journey, I encourage you to start with Day 1 of the Blog, but more importantly, I encourage you to start!

Today’s Disciple Moment

(1) As a family, we have been looking at Genesis 1-11.

(2) Look at your summary of Genesis 4-11. What happened as a result of the humans choice? (They become suspicious, self-protective, violent, it got so bad God flooded the earth, but humans continued to cease power, do their own thing, and define evil on their own.)

(3) Do you think any of this surprised God? Do you believe God had a plan from the very beginning?

(4) Review: Continue to review Questions 1, 2, and 3 from day 37.

Even if you don’t use anything written here, use your Bible and disciple your children!!! It is a great honor and our responsibility as parents!

I am praying for you and your family, and this journey together!
