You got this!! As parents we often feel we are the only ones who _____________ (you fill in the blank.) As believers we have assurance that God is with us through our ______________ (your blank.) Today, lead your disciples well with guidance from the Father who loves you deeply!
Discipling is being on a journey together! You are the “leader/teacher” but none of us have completed our faith journey (nor will we this side of eternity,) so that make us all disciples learning and growing together!
If you haven’t read/worked through Days 1-3, go back and start from the beginning. This is a journey and each step builds on the next.
Today we are still looking at: How do I become a disciple? So, far we have talked about repentance and what that means.
(1) Read Romans 3:23 (this is a good time to talk about who wrote Romans, when, why, to whom and what was going on in history at this time—look it up! Research it as a team/family.) All of us have done something that offended the King (Jesus.) Yesterday we shared some of these things and the consequences of these sins—today read the ultimate consequence of sin in Romans 6:23. BUT THEN COMES THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER!!!
(2) Read Romans 5:8. The penalty we should have faced from the King was paid for...by the King’s Son Jesus!! On top of that, Read Romans 10:9. We are saved!!! We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus!
(3) The whole Bible narrative, the whole eyewitness accounts of Jesus, show us it is all about who Jesus is and what He has done for us. Can we save ourselves? Can we be good enough to “earn” Jesus saving grace? What is grace? In repenting we turn toward Jesus believing that there is no way we can save ourselves—it is all about Jesus!
Today as you work with your disciples (kids) on their academic lessons, talk to them about how strange it is that someone else was willing to take our punishment and that these ideas, as strange as they are, are consistent with Gods overall actions and character in the 66 unique books/letters/eyewitness accounts that we collectively call the Bible.
If you are not a believer or you are a disciple of Jesus and you need someone praying for you email me at equippingtomorrow@icloud.com and I’ll be here to walk with you through this unique opportunity we have been given!
