All the Marbles Day 9

Today is an awesome day! No matter what is happening in this world, we can Rejoice in the Hope that is so clearly taught throughout Scripture and fulfilled in Jesus! How will you invest today’s marble? Or, if you are new to “All the Marbles,” what investment will you make in discipling the child(ren) God has given you?

Today we are still looking at: How do I become a disciple?

So, far we have talked about repentance, consequences, being saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, what it means to make Jesus the Lord of your life and about the love that comes from following Jesus! Today, we count the cost of being a Jesus disciple.

(1) Read the following words from Jesus in the eyewitness account in Luke, Luke 14:25-33. Don’t paraphrase, even for the little ones. These are teaching Truth moments and every word is important.

(2) Discuss what we have to be willing to give up if we choose to obey Jesus. Remember (a) your child may not be ready for this commitment (b) you DO NOT save them, Jesus does. Your job is to make sure they understand that there is a cost.

(3) Discuss what might be holding us back from following Jesus at this point.

(4) Spend time praying for each other today! Be honest about your doubts, fears and hesitations. Ask for strength. Put your faith in Him!

Parents we don’t have to have all the answers! Or, know specifically how God will use us in our child’s disciple process. We simply need to follow His lead.

Resources I recommend in discipling: the Bible, The book Multiply and the Bible Project Videos. There is no source above the Bible! I do not always agree with the authors of the other two resources (Multiply and The Bible Project) BUT I know they have the same core theology as I do, so I read and evaluate their work through my theological lenses.
