You can do this!!
Go through each day in order, one day at a time, with your kids or grandkids. Remember this is a journey not a quick hit program! Those that God has given you to disciple are precious gifts, worth the investment!
Today we are still looking at: How do I become a disciple?
So, far we have talked about repentance, consequences, being saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and what it means to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Today let’s talk about the love that comes from following Jesus!
(1) Recap yesterday’s discussion by sharing your approach to following Jesus with each other. Would you say you view Jesus as your Lord, Master, Boss and Owner? Why or why not?
(2) Following Jesus is NOT about being a slave, following a set of rules, a joyless experience! It’s about 1 commandment He gave (with 2 parts)! Read and discuss together Matt 22:37-40.
(3) Following Jesus is about loving and enjoying Him BUT what does He tell us in John 14:15 and what does John say in 1 John 4:20 and 1 John 3:16? Love and obedience go together!
(When you read the Bible it is critical you discuss where the Bible came from, it is NOT just another book! The Gospel of John was written based on Johns eyewitness account of Jesus’ life. 1 John was a letter written to early Christian. Ever thing you do with your children/disciples is a teachable moment!)
(4) Share together about how your love for God is shown in your actions (i.e.; respecting those He created, taking care of the “things” He has given you, being hopeful when crisis come, and so on.) If you are having a hard tome thinking through some examples, what changes do you need to make in your life?
Tomorrow we will look at the cost of being a disciple. If you are confused about how to talk to your kids about this or need someone praying for you email me at equippingtomorrow@icloud.com and I’ll be here to walk with you through this unique opportunity we have been given!
