All the Marbles Day 28

How often have we shared with people about “what the Bible” says? Have we read the Scriptures (the Bible) beginning to end? Or, maybe you’ve read the Bible in a year reading plan? How did it get to be a bound book, that has been a best seller for years?

It starts with God, who He is, and His story. Our faith in Him guides us to understand how to read His Scriptures. In the last couple of days, we have been looking at how God has shown us who He is through “revelation”—not the Bible Book Revelation but through His “general” and “special” revelations. Make sure you have looked at the previous “All the Marbles” post for more details.

Today we are going to walk through a process that shows the inerrancy of His Word. Remember, “we don’t reason our way into belief; rather by faith, we understand.” Before you dive in with your kids, pray for faith.

(1) Do you think God can lie? Why not? Let’s support our statement: “God speaks the truth” by looking at some verses. Help your children find the following Scripture: Titus 1:2, Hebrews 6:18. Explain who wrote the letter/sermon and to whom—other verses: Numbers 23:19, Ps 31:5; Isaiah 65:16.

(2) If God can’t lie, then His words are true. Look up John 17:17 and Ps 119:160, and discuss.

(3) God spoke His Words through Scripture. Look up Acts 1:16, Romans 1:2.

(4) Scripture is the written Word of God. Look up John 10:35, 2 Peter 1:19.

(5) Since God can’t lie, His Words are true, God spoke to us through the Scriptures, and the Scriptures are the written Word of God, we can conclude that the Scriptures are true!

Building logic skills in our children is critical! We teach them how to take a test without thinking through logically why the answers are right! Work with them at a young age, and those skills will pay off!! Also, remind them we walk by faith, not blind faith, but “it’s by faith that we are able to perceive the truth and attain accurate understanding.”
