All the Marbles Day 25

Learning goes back to ”the why” as we grasp “the why” things start to make sense. Is it any wonder it is the favorite statement of a 2-year-old learning how to navigate the world? And sometimes the hardest question to answer for adults.

“Because I say so” doesn’t cut it as your kids are developing reasoning skills. Being able to answer the why related to “the Bible,” gives them Truth to stand firm on, when the world tries to knock down their faith.

Sometimes we tell our children “because the Bible says so,” or we tell them the stories without really wrestling with the nature of the Bible, God's redemptive story, and how it can transform our lives.

(1) Discuss why each of you studies the Bible. List as many reasons as you can.

(2) Discuss any wrong motivations you thought of; for example, It’s what Christians are supposed to do, we want others to look up to us, solely to teach others.

(3) As you discuss why we study the Bible spend time together today praying that God will open your eyes to His Truth through His Spirit. We can’t do this on our own. Read what John says in His biography on the life of Jesus in John 14:26 and 16:13.

Discipling your children is a journey, not a tweet; we are going to spend a long time camped out on “the Bible.”

Your kids are sponges, pour into them richly, repeat often and allow them to guide the times you walk and talk about faith. Make it apart of who you are not a “to-do list.”

“All the Marbles” post from Days 1-22 lays a foundation for discipling your children or grandchildren or other children you are involved with daily. Day 23 began our journey in “What is the Bible?”

If you are interested in a simple “journey guide” to discipling your children, sign up to receive our daily “All the Marbles” email, straight to your inbox. And, check out our Days 1-24 on this blog.

I am praying for you and your family, and this journey together!
